Beulah, AL- Very few people in Beulah touched more lives than Coach Weldon Parkman. On Tuesday evening, the Lee County Commissioners approved the renaming of Lee Rd. 270., from Yarbrough’s Crossroads past Beulah Baptist, Beulah Fire Department and on past Beulah Schools to Coach Weldon Parkman Drive. According to numerous sources, signs should begin to go up at the beginning of 2019 and afterwards a celebration for the new Coach Weldon Parkman Drive. Parkman, who passed a few months ago made an undeniable impact on the Beulah Community as a Coach, Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal. “Coach Parkman had a huge impact on my life”, says lifelong Beulah resident Steve Baggett. Parkman taught for over 50 years, also served as the boys Basketball and Baseball Coach. Parkman, also made a difference in the classroom. “He was my World History Teacher and I’m happy to see Beulah renaming the street for him”, says Alabama House District 38 and former student Debbie Wood. Additionally, the old Beulah gymnasium will be named after Coach Parkman. In a fitting touch, the new Coach Weldon Parkman Drive will run right past the Beulah Schools, where he made such an impact on those in the classroom and on the field.
