The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is warning residents of a phone scam.

According to ALEA, callers are claiming to be ALEA officers with warrants for an individual’s arrest. The caller then requests credit card information.

ALEA does not solicit credit card numbers or personal information by phone or email when handling arrest warrants.

The public is advised to report similar calls to their local law enforcement agencies.
