BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A newborn is safe after being taken from UAB Hospital Tuesday afternoon.
The 3-day-old was taken after the parents learned DHR was going to take custody of the child. The infant was reported missing around 2:00 pm.
About 90 minutes later the newborn was taken to Birmingham’s east precinct and is the custody of authorities.
“The child involved in today’s incident is safe and in the custody of law enforcement. A joint UAB and Birmingham Police investigation is ongoing,” says Tyler Greer with UAB.
