LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) – Doctors are working to save a young boy’s leg after a lawnmower accident Sunday afternoon.
Limestone County deputies say a 4-year-old boy ran behind a riding mower on McKee Road. The person operating the mower did not see the child, whose leg got caught in the mower.
Deputy Stephen Young, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, said the boy was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Young said the child suffered serious lacerations to his lower leg and foot. He still had mobility in his toes when he was airlifted.
The Oak Grove Thach Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene. Deputies assisted.
Young said it was an accident. No charges will be filed.
