Press Release by David Bell, Director of Public Relations, Chambers County School District
VALLEY – Fairfax Elementary raised the highest total amount of any Chambers County school in the annual “Change and Dollars Makes Sense” campaign to benefit Valley Haven. The fundraising effort was conducted in conjunction with the Hike-Bike-Run event held on May 4. Students at Fairfax collected $1,447.28, and were presented a special plaque for their achievement.
“Our children were excited about participating in this campaign,” said Fairfax Principal Fran Groover. “Not only did they enjoy raising money, but they learned the importance of helping other people in need.”
“Change and Dollars Makes Sense” is one of various activities conducted each year to generate financial support for Valley Haven, which provides educational opportunities for intellectually challenged individuals throughout the Greater Valley Area. Donations are used as matching funds for grants that help sustain ongoing programs.
As a result of these efforts, local residents have contributed more than $100,000 annually over the past 20 years.
