BULLOCK COUNTY, Ala. — An infestation of bats has closed a daycare in Union Springs, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH).
The ADPH says a health environmentalist found bats living in parts of the Turner’s Learning ABC Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd last week, including at least 2 dead bats seen in a living space.
While only a small percentage of bats carry rabies, the ADPH is recommending all children at the daycare receive preventative treatment for the disease.
The center closed voluntarily last Thursday following the discovery to prevent any possible exposures.
