The Tuskegee Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting at the McDonald’s overnight.

Macon County Coroner Hal Bentley confirms 18-year-old Cedric Howard was killed.

Bentley said Howard walked into the fast food restaurant and began talking to the shooting suspect. Bentley said a verbal altercation broke out and the shooting suspect pulled out a gun and shot Howard multiple times.

Tony Garrett, with Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, says the incident happened around 10:40 p.m. Bentley pronounced Howard dead at the scene.

According to Bentley the shooter fled the scene following the shooting.

Police have identified a person in connection with the shooting as 23-year-old Jamal James Brown. Garrett says Brown is wanted for murder, and was last seen wearing a green baseball cap and a green shirt.

Investigators believe Brown to have been hiding in the Auburn or Macon County area, but turned himself into authorities on Sunday night.
