SUMMER RENOVATION PROJECTS AT CHAMBERS COUNTY SCHOOLS
LaFAYETTE – While teachers and students enjoy their summertime break from the classroom, various renovation projects are being conducted at facilities throughout the Chambers County School District.
“It’s a lot easier to get this type of work done when schools and other buildings are idle,” said Superintendent Dr. Kelli Hodge. “This is the time of year when we schedule the bulk of our facility improvements.”
Projects already completed include roof replacements on the media center wing and band building at Valley High School, both of which passed inspection last week. Ongoing renovations involve interior painting at LaFayette Eastside Elementary and Five Points School.
“Last summer, we painted the hallways at W. F. Burns Middle School, and we will begin painting the classrooms before the summer break ends,” Hodge added.
“Furthermore, our school district maintenance crew is busy with routine repairs and upgrades of various types, as well as our Information Technology department. We conduct regular assessments of our greatest needs for improvement, and then coordinate a schedule for addressing those needs on a priority basis and according to available funding sources.”
Students and teachers will notice the difference when they return to their respective schools in August.
