Baileyton, Ala — Sara Tapia, the mother accused of killing her two sons October 12, has been booked in the Cullman County Jail with no bond.
The 32 year old Tapia had been receiving treatment at a local hospital for self-inflicted wounds.
Three year-old Alvaro Garcia and nine year-old Taylor Garcia were discovered dead in the family’s rental home on County Road 1718 near Baileyton earlier this month. Their father found them when he returned home and called 911.
Sheriff Matt Gentry told reporters there had been no previous law enforcement calls to the home and they had no record of mental illness issues with Tapia.
He recognized the work of first responders who were confronted with a horrific crime scene for doing their jobs to set up a perimeter and locate Tapia.
