Jefferson Co. Sheriff: Man accused of beating wife to death jailed for strangling new wife

A Jefferson County man who was arrested in 2018 for the beating-death of his first wife is now back in jail for allegedly strangling his new wife.

On Thursday January 16 around 9:00 a.m. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies Arrested 44 year old Arthur Leon McKinney Jr. for Domestic Violence Strangulation 1st degree.

According to the sheriff, McKinney’s wife suffered injuries to her head, eye, hand and throat and required medical treatment.

The sheriff said she had been married to McKinney for 3 months.

The victim told police that McKinney attacked her at their home in the 4000 block of Ruff road in Pinson.

McKinney was arrested in 2018 for the beating his first wife to death and was out on bond.

McKinney is being held without bond on his current charge.
