Gadsden man wanted on child rape charges arrested in Texas

A Gadsden man was arrested in Texas for charges of rape, sodomy, and sex abuse involving a child under 12, according to the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.

On March 26, 2020, the United States Marshals Service and other law enforcement agencies began a fugitive investigation on Shown Ray Sims. Sims was wanted by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of Rape 1st, two counts of Sodomy 1st, and 1 count of Sex Abuse of a child less than 12.

Investigators discovered Sims had fled to Texas to avoid capture. On March 27, Sims was arrested in Galveston, Texas after police said he was spotted walking down the road.

He’s in Galveston jail waiting extradition back to Etowah County.
