COLUMBIANA, Ala. — A centenarian returned to Shelby County nursing home after a lengthy battle with COVID-19.
Columbiana Health and Rehabilitation posted on Facebook about 105-year-old Mildred Smith’s recovery.
She was sent to the hospital April 27 after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.
In her lifetime, she also survived the Spanish Flu.
The staff at Columbiana Health and Rehabilitation called Smith a fighter with a sassy attitude.
Her first words on coming back to the facility were “What’s for supper?”
After staff informed her of the supper plates, she responded “Good… now give me my call button and leave me the hell alone!”
Those were apparently her first words in weeks because hospital staff reported she had not said a word since she was admitted.
