A two-vehicle crash at approximately 4:51 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, has claimed the life of a Salem woman. Margie B. Hilyer, 71, was killed when the 2015 Jeep Cherokee she was driving collided with a 2018 Ford F-150. Hilyer, who was using a seat belt, was transported to an area hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the F-150, Jack Montgomery, 75, of Birmingham, was also transported to a hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Lee County 737 at U.S. 280, approximately four miles southeast of Opelika.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
