A 911 call was received by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 1:30 pm cst on Monday, February 8 reporting a shooting at a residence on Lee Road 2085 Cusseta in northeast Lee County.
Responding deputies located a 49 year old female inside the residence who had suffered what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the side of her face. She was unresponsive and showed no sign of life.
The shooting is believed to have resulted from a domestic disturbance between the victim and her son, Austin Walls (19), of the same address. Also present at the residence at the time of the incident was Walls’ sister, another adult male and three (3) children. No one else was injured.
Investigators located a 9MM handgun believed to have been involved in the shooting.
Walls is being transported to the Lee County Detention Center.
