LAFAYETTE – During their regular monthly meeting on February 17, 2021, the Chambers County Board of Education voted to hire Mr. David Owen to serve in the position of Assistant Superintendent for the Chambers County School District. He will assume his new duties effective March 3, 2021.
Since 2018, Mr. Owen has served as Headmaster at Chambers Academy in LaFayette, and was responsible for developing school curriculum, hiring staff, conducting employee evaluations, budgeting, leading professional development, overseeing admissions, and program planning directly benefiting the education of students. His previous experience also included the positions of High School Administrator, College Adviser, and teacher at Springwood School in Lanett; Assistant Principal, Coach, Administrative Assistant, and teacher at Beulah High School; Administrative Assistant, teacher, and coach at Beauregard High School; teacher and coach at Grealdine High School in Grealdine, AL; Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, teacher, and coach at Centre Middle School in Centre, AL; teacher and coach at Cherokee County High School in Centre, AL; teacher and coach at Ohatchee High School in Ohatchee, AL; and teacher and coach at Crenshaw Christian Academy in Luverne, AL.
Mr. Owen obtained his bachelors degree in Health and Physical Education, with special emphasis in Athletic Coaching and minoring in History, from the University of Alabama. He later earned a master’s degree in School Administration from Troy University and a master’s endorsement in History from the University of Alabama at Gadsden.
