Arrest Made in Connection with the Three Bodies Discovered in Submerged Vehicle on Lake Eufaula

EUFAULA – Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State
Bureau of Investigation (SBI) have arrested and formally charged Demetrius Devonte McGhee, 26, of Clayton in connection to the murder of three individuals found deceased in a submerged vehicle in Lake Eufaula. The victims were discovered at approximately 7:18 a.m. Monday, April 26.

Law enforcement officers made contact with McGhee, who was released from an area hospital on the evening of April 26. He was charged with four counts of Capital Murder and transported to a local jail. McGhee is being held without bond, pending a hearing in the Barbour County Court.

SBI has requested the assistance of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team to search the area where the vehicle was located for other evidence related to this crime.
SBI would like to thank the Eufaula Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Dothan Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Cuthbert (Ga.) Police Department, Randolph County (Ga.) Sheriff’s Office, Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, Dothan Police Department and Houston County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during this investigation.
