The Chambers County School District is pleased to announce the promotion of Mr. Daron Brooks as the system’s new Child Nutrition Program Director. Mr. Brooks succeeds Mr. Montray Thompson, who was named as the new principal at Valley High School for the 2021-22 school year. Mr. Thompson indicated interest to return to a building leadership position at VHS having filled the role of CNP Director for the district since 2016. His transition left a vacancy for a new director for CNP for which Mr. Brooks was motivated to fill.

Daron Brooks is an experienced educator who has served Chambers County as Principal at J.P. Powell Middle School since 2012. His dedication and passion for serving the children in our district made him an obvious choice for promotion to the system’s position of Child Nutrition Program Director. He believes that teamwork is the ultimate way our schools can be successful in reaching the goal of helping a child attain his or her full potential.

Mr. Brooks reiterated that he was honored to serve as Principal for the last nine years at John P. Powell Middle School. He has worked closely with both the staff and families to promote student achievement. Chambers County Schools Superintendent, Casey Chambley noted that under Mr. Brooks’s leadership that 92% of all of his students at J.P. Powell Middle School have experienced growth in both reading and math alike. Chambley added that Mr. Brooks was successful in improving the school climate as noted by stakeholder surveys conducted by AdvancEd. Chambley cited Mr. Brooks’s overall analytical and budgeting skills along with his proven track record of nurturing strong working relationships with stakeholders as making him a great fit for the system’s next CNP Director.

Prior to joining the system as Principal at J.P. Powell in 2012, Mr. Brooks served as an Assistant Principal with Eufaula City Schools. He also had experience in the Eufaula City Schools System as a supervisor for Career and Technical Education programs. During the summers from 2009 to 2011, Mr. Brooks worked for the Education Testing Service in Princeton, New Jersey as a School Leaders Licensing Assessment Rater. He initially joined the Chambers County School District as a science teacher serving at J.P. Powell Middle School from 2003 to 2007. Prior to beginning his teaching in Chambers County, his first teaching assignment was at Bullock County High School from 2001 to 2003.

Mr. Brooks is a product of the Chambers County School System having graduated from LaFayette High School in 1994. He earned his B.S. degree in Biology at Stillman College in 1999. Mr. Brooks later obtained his M.S. degree in Biology in 2004 from Alabama State University. In 2006, he earned a Master’s degree from Alabama State in Instructional Leadership. Finally, in 2010, he added his Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Troy University. He received the award for Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and was nominated for Administrator of the Year by the Greater Valley Area Chamber of Commerce during his tenure. The Chambers County School District is fortunate to have an experienced and motivated educator such as Mr. Daron Brooks ready and willing to take on the challenge as our new Child Nutrition Program Director!
