Wendell Sims “Buck” Kennedy


Wendell Sims “Buck” Kennedy was born in Griffin, Georgia to the late Margie and Ozie Kennedy on February 26, 1931 and passed away at Arbor Springs on December 5, 2018. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Kennedy proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He taught printing in Montgomery at John Patterson Technical College for over 25 years, and was one of the original founders of Craftmasters Printing. He was a longtime member of Masonic Lodge – Air Force One of Montgomery, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara P. Kennedy; son, Steven Kennedy; sister, Faye Easterling.

He is survived by his daughter, Dianne (Bill) Jay; son, Wade (Susie) Kennedy; grandchildren, Gavin (Amanda) Yates, Patrick Yates, Daniel Kennedy, and Tyler Kennedy; great grandchildren, Slade Yates, Lane Yates; sisters, Jeanelle Roddy, Charlotte Wells.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to any of the following: Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
