Mrs. Myrtle C. “Grannie Myrtle” Nelson, age 92, of Lanett, AL passed away on Thursday, January 17th, 2019 at the EAMC Lanier Hospital in Valley, AL. She was born on March 21st, 1926 in Langdale, AL.

     Mrs. Nelson is survived by her daughter, Susan N. (Billy) Sanders; her son, Mark A. Nelson; her five grandchildren, Nikki Brooks, Trinity Harrington, Steve Sanders, Jared Nelson, and Katelyn Nelson; her six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; her brother, Milton L. Carroll.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert L. and Annie J. Carroll; her husband, Burling Nelson; her grandson, Matthew Sanders.

     Mrs. Nelson was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God. She retired from West Point Pepperell after 46 years of service with the company. She loved her church and enjoyed reading her Bible, watching her favorite ministers on TV, watching “Pioneer Woman” cooking shows, and baking cakes.

     A Memorial service will be held on Monday, January 21st, 2019 at 2:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 PM (EST) until the service hour at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in her memory.
