Mr. Bill W. Buchannon Jr.

August 22, 1952 – March 17, 2019

Memorial Service for Mr. Bill W. Buchannon, Jr., 66, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Helen Walton and Rev. Barry Dunn will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mr. Buchannon passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Russell Medical. He was born on August 22, 1952 in Alexander City, Alabama to Bill W. Buchannon, Sr. and Helen Jeanette McGinnis Buchannon. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Alexander City where he attended the Journey Sunday school class and Tuesday Men’s Bible study as well as Legacy Builders. Mr. Buchannon was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who supported all of his grandchildren in their interests and gathering at the family farm. He was an active member of the Kowaliga Bass Fishing Club, former member of the Alexander City Amateur Radio Club, and a lifetime member of the Bass Association and FLW.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathy Buchannon of Alexander City; children, April B. Turner (Chad) of Opelika, Brian Buchannon (Christi) of Gadsden, Lindley Ruth Buchannon of Hazel Green; grandchildren, Campbell W. Turner, Coleston W. Turner, Landon T. Buchannon, Presley Buchannon, Keelan Buchannon; sister, Sharla B. Edwards (Danny); sister-in-law, Linda Horel (John); brother-in-law, Bill Gierhart (Jeanne); nephews and nieces, Richmond McClellan, Baylee McClellan, James Horel, Melanie Horel, Adam Gierhart (Tabby), Josh Gierhart, Megan Gierhart; nine great nieces and nephews; aunt, Marlene Cain and brothers in Christ, Willie Lemmond and Kenneth Walton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Benson and Ruth McGinnis and Taft and Mozelle Buchannon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Magic Moments of Alabama, 2112 11th Avenue South, Suite 219, Birmingham, Al, 35205.
