Funeral service for Elaine Matthews, 61, of Auburn, AL, will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 29, 2019, at Bell Missionary Baptist Church, 348 Foster Street, Auburn, AL 36830 with interment in Westview Cemetery, Reverend Mark X. Lee will officiate.
Ms. Matthews, who passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL, was born March 1, 1958 in Macon County, Alabama.
Public viewing will be Sunday, April 28, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Ms. Matthews will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include: husband, Michael Devoise of Auburn, AL; two daughters, Antionette Matthews of Auburn, AL and Gerri (Quinton) Scott of Dallas, GA; five grandchildren, Brianna Matthews, Rodritus Matthews, Gernyvia Scott and Germyah Scott and Genesis Scott; three great grandchildren, Kamora Matthews, Addison Harper and Raylan Matthews; two sisters, Debra (Billy) North of Opelika, AL and Quayla Matthews of Auburn, AL; two brothers, Nathaniel (Blanch) Dowdell of Auburn, AL and James Edward Matthews of Waverly, AL; step-mother, Charlene Matthews of Salem, AL; four aunts, Julie Deathridge of Knoxville, TN, Lula (William) McCurdy, Essie Maddox both of Opelika, AL and Johnnie Williamson of Far Rockaway, NY; two nieces, Juana Doby and Katia (Sylvester) Williams; four nephew, Zayden Griffin, Curtis Morgan, Dantee Morgan and Jamil Dowdell; one step-sister, A’saila Thomas; four step-brothers, Davaris Thomas, Lavaris Thomas, Sedric Thomas and Laderrick Thomas; mother-in-law, Betty Drake of Dayton, OH; one sister-in-law, Barbara Carlisle of Dayton, OH; three brothers-in-law, Donald Devoise, Ronald Devoise and Dave (Linda) Devoise all of Dayton, OH; special friend, Rene (Michael) Waldrop; a host of other relatives and friends.
