With deepest regret, we announce the passing from this life of Ms. Mary Knight Jordan, 62, a resident of 407 4th Street, SW, Wedowee, Alabama. Ms. Jordan transitioned from this life early Friday morning, May 10, 2019 at Tanner Medical Center, East Alabama in Wedowee.
Visitation hours for Ms. Jordan will be observed on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm, here at the funeral home.
The Home Going Celebration will be observed at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Oak Grove Worship Center, 2781 County Road 47, Newell, Alabama; with the Pastor, Reverend Fredrick Brown, Sr., serving as Eulogist.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery immediately following the services.
At an early age, Mary dedicated her life to Christ, evidencing her commitment by way of her long-time membership at Oak Grove Worship Center in Newell, Alabama, remaining faithfully connected to Oak Grove until her transition.
Her family and loved ones remember her as a lively lady who loved and savored life. A people person who enjoyed being with family and friends, Mary enjoyed dancing, and “talking junk”. She happily devoted most of her years as a homemaker.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Lolene Andrews Knight; father, John Robert Davenport; three (3) brothers: King Edward Knight, Johnny Gray Knight, James Larry Knight; and one (1) sister, Jessie Mae Knight. She was reunited with her deceased loved ones early Friday morning, May 10, 2019, when she answered God’s call from earthly labor to eternal reward. She was at Tanner Medical Center, East Alabama in Wedowee.
She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, her two adult children: Keith Jordan (Marilyn) of Albertville, Alabama, and Connie Hardnett (Wayne) of Roanoke, Alabama; one (1) step-brother: Robert Knight (Thelma) of Swagg, Alabama; four (4) step-sisters: Kim Barsh of Oklahoma, JoAnn Nunn (Coleman) and Lola Mae Wright of Wedowee, AL and Jennifer Barsh Neil of Carrollton, GA; two (2) half-brothers: John Robert Davenport and James Larry Davenport; and two (2) half-sisters: Brenda Garrett and Catherine Salazer all of Levolland, Texas; a special sister-in-law, Cynthia Parker and a special friend, Richard Goodwin both of Wedowee, Alabama; also very special people in her life, Mary Frances Goodwin Jones of Roanoke, Alabama and Carrie Dale Lancaster, who helped raise her after her mother passed away; eight (8) grandchildren; five (5) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
