Funeral Service for Mr. Donald Franklin McClellan, 74, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11:00 am at Faith Temple. Pastor Dick Stark, Elder Lynn Royal, and Mr. Fred Clark will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. McClellan passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at East Alabama Medical Center. He was born on June 13, 1945 in Alexander City, Alabama to Adrian Maynard McClellan and Ada Roberta Thornton McClellan. He was an active member of Faith Temple. Mr. McClellan served as a police officer for the Alexander City Police Department and rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He and Mrs. McClellan owned and operated McClellan Photography Studio and Custom Frame Shop. With a great desire to make a difference in his community, Mr. McClellan ran for and was elected Mayor of Alexander City in 1996 and served for two terms. Following his terms as Mayor, he became the Executive Director of the Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance where he served until his death. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing. His most treasured time was spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda McClellan of Alexander City; son, Chris McClellan of Alexander City; granddaughters, Madison McClellan and Faith McClellan; grandson, Corey Smith; sister, Jane Pike of Tupelo, MS; mother-in-law, Lois Stephens of Alexander City; sister-in-law, Patsy Wagenfuehr (Buzzy); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leigh Anne McClellan; his parents; sisters, Lorine Ray, Inez Forbus, Bessie Kitchens, and Modesta Adamson and brothers, Billy Wayne McClellan, James McClellan, Harold McClellan, and Rudolph McClellan.
