The Obituary for Mr. Bennie Lee Parks


Funeral Service for Mr. Bennie Lee Parks, 79, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home.  Dr. Steve King will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 1, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.  Honors will be provided by the Alexander City Veteran’s Honor Guard at the cemetery.

Mr. Parks passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home (Alexander City).  He was born on March 22, 1940 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Lee S. Parks and Johnnie Pruitt Parks.  He was an active member of First Baptist Church.  Mr. Parks was a member of the Alexander City Elks Lodge, avid supporter of AA and the Lighthouse for over 30 years and was a member of the Alexander City swim/dive team.  He enjoyed fishing, visiting with family and friends and Auburn football.  His family said he had a knack for making any situation an enjoyable one and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his son, Bo (Lisa) Parks of Alexander City; stepsons, David Easterwood of  Lake Martin and Larry Easterwood of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Sawyer Parks, Dalton Parks, Lauren Major, and Larkin Easterwood; brother, Chester (Tillie) Parks; sister, Maxine (Sam) Gill and special friend, Jenny Carter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
