Funeral services for Mr. Edward Melton, age 74, of Wadley will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Gilead Community Church with Rev. Mike Hanners and Rev. Jimmy Brand officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Melton passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 at his residence. A native of Clay County, he was a graduate of Mellow Valley High School. He served in the U.S. National Guard for six years, and spent most of his life as a Mill Worker, retiring from Amoco Fabrics. He was also a member and a Deacon at Mt. Gilead Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat Melton; one son, Troy Melton (Sommer); one daughter, Dianne Looser (Todd); four grandchildren: Colton Looser (Shelly), Brittany Looser, Lauren Melton, and Trent Melton; two great-grandchildren: Evan and Isla Looser, all of Wadley; along with his extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jewell Melton and Dorothy Virginia Caldwell Melton; and one brother, Gene Melton.
Active Pallbearers will be Colton Looser, Trent Melton, Jody Melton, Fred Railey, Donald Roberson, and Vince Powell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Forman and Coye Powell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. He will lie in state from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Gilead Community Church.
