Graveside services for Mrs. Amarylis Watts Monroe, age 92 of Ashland, will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ashland City Cemetery.
Mrs. Monroe passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Clay County Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, she worked for over 20 years at the Lineville Child Development Center. She loved word searches and enjoyed reading the Clay Times Journal. Mrs. Monroe was also a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.
She is survived by her four daughters: Carol Macoy, Patty Munroe, Sharon Goldman, all of Ashland; and Jackie Powers (Curt) of Elkmont; six grandchildren: Brian Macoy (Carrie Ventre), Kelli Franko (Stephen) Andrew Goldman (Jessica), Jessie Bonner (Jackson), Melissa Green and Seth Green; six great-grandchildren; and her good friend, Frances Farmer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Jewel Watts and Jessie Carol Buckhannan Watts; her husband, J.W. Monroe; and one great-grandchild, Brianna Macoy.
Active Pallbearers will be Andrew Goldman, Seth Green, and Curt Powers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M.
