Funeral Services for Ms. Syble Jean Gautney, age 79 of Wadley, will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Bro. Jason Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Gautney passed away Monday, December 16, 2019 at East Alabama Medical Center. She was born in Clay County, and lived here all her life. She loved to cook, loved ducks, and Alan Jackson. She was very funny and enjoyed watching The Price Is Right and Family Feud. She was a friend to all and adored her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Roberson of Wadley; one grandson, Justin Whatley, of Wadley; one granddaughter, Anna Whatley of Oxford; one sister, Sherry Cotney (Jimmy) of Frog Eye; two brothers, Bobby Gautney (Betty) of Montgomery and Charles Gortney (Juanita) of Ashland.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Lois Gautney and Marjorie McCain Gautney and two brothers, Sonny Gortney and Willis Gortney.
Pallbearers will be Scott Denney, Greg Denney, Randy Mitchell, Duane Nappier, Justin Mason and Tim McCain.
Lou Ann Tapley will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The visitation will take place at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 5:30-8 PM.
