Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Vernell Smith Young, age 72, of Franklin, GA will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Young passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, AL. A native of Clay County she moved with her family to Franklin, GA in 1980. She was a member of World Alive Church in Oxford, AL.
She is survived by her three daughters: Donna Gore(Larry) of Franklin, GA, Pam Young of Alexander City, AL and Tammy Lee Gladhill(Mike) of Warsaw,IN: a son: William Homer Young, Jr. “Billy” of Franklin, GA; sister; Evelyn Rebecca Smith Harper of Alexander City, AL; four grandchildren: Heather Michelle Taylor(Brent), Stephanie Rene Willingham(Josh), DJ Smith(Nichole) and Bobbie Smith(Melissa); five great-grandchildren: McKenzie McCormick, Alissa Taylor, Hannah Willingham, Gracie Smith and Hayden Willingham; several nieces and nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Homer Young, Sr; parents, CP Smith and Pearlie Lee Duck Smith.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 28, 2020 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland.
