A graveside service for Mrs. Barbara Carolyn Holmes Brown, age 76 of Lineville, was held on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at New Harmony Christian Church Cemetery with George Worthington officiating.
Mrs. Brown passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at her home. Born in Randolph County, she spent the majority of her life in Clay County. She graduated from Lineville High School, and worked at Steel Chiropractic as an office manager for 26 years as well as Dollar General for 5 years. Mrs. Brown loved to travel, especially to the Great Smokey Mountains and Pigeon Forge. She enjoyed playing the lottery, chocolate and flowers. She was always on the go and upbeat, but stern when she had to be. Mrs. Brown was always smiling, and she loved her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She was a member of the Lineville Church of Christ and New Fellowship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Raymond Lavelle Brown of Lineville; her daughter, Carol Denise Dean of Oxford; her son, David R. Brown (Jennifer); her daughter-in-law, Jan A. Brown, both of Lineville; six grandchildren: Amanda Brown, Tiffany Shaddix (Adam), Jonathan Dean, Tyler Ray Brown (Amber), Brooke Brown and Garak Pepper; seven and a half great-grandchildren (one on the way); her sister, Linda B. Glass (Tommy) of Montgomery; four brothers-in-law: Frank Brown, Sr. (Jane) of Lineville, Carol Gunter (Catherine) of Munford, Tommy Glass of Montgomery, and Paul Rogers of Roanoke; her special friends, Norman and Wyeleen Byrom of Wellington; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James A. Holmes and Gracie Rice Holmes; her son, James L. Brown; her grandson, T.C. Clifton III, and her sister, Frances “Jody” Holmes.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
