Graveside Service for Mr. Robert C. Huff, 89, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens. Bro. Johnny Pritchard will officiate.
Mr. Huff passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home (Alexander City). He was born on March 8, 1931 in Dadeville, Alabama to Marvin Goodwin Huff and Mary Gene Truitt Huff. He faithfully attended church services at Bill Nichols Veteran’s Home.
After he returned home from serving in the Korean War Robert bought his first pulp wood truck and began a life-long career of working in the woods. As time progressed, he went from being a sole logger in the woods to having his own logging business with an average of six men working for him. His family jokingly said he always said “He had rosin in his veins.”
In the summer of 2004, at the age of 73, there was a featured article in Alabama Forests Magazine about Robert and he stated he had no plans to retire. According to family members he can still work circles around them. He was a very hard working man that cared greatly for his family, especially all his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gayle Huff of Dadeville; children, Sherry H. Bartlett, Ricky Huff, Duchi (James) Jones, Gene (Tammy) Huff, Robin Huff; grandchildren, Stephanie (Trent) Calhoun, Skye Bartlett, Chase (Haley) Huff, Matthew (Ashley) Huff, Jazzmin Huff, Channing (Matt) Turner, Alexx Bednarski, Pearl Huff , John Landon Bednarski, McKenzie Ashworth; great-grandchildren, Lila Calhoun, Cooper Turner, Macie Huff Turner; sisters, Velma H. Manthei, Betty Ann H. (Roy) Sells; special loved ones, Jacky and Debbie Thompson, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Billie Huff, Dorothy H. White and Eugene Huff.
