Gary R Fricks of Alexander City, Alabama (formally Dalton, GA.) passed away at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home on May 12th, 2020.
Gary served in the United States Airforce in 1964/1969. During his time of service, he spent one year in Bienhoa, Vietnam. After returning to the states, he was employed by the City of Atlanta, as a Firefighter for 26 years. Before his health failed him, he enjoyed fishing, bowling and growing vegetables in his small garden. As he got older and unable to work in the yard, he would buy vegetables from a local friend, Silas Gains. Giving vegetables away to friends and family gave him great joy. He also liked visiting the guys at Larry’s Store, telling war stories and sharing embellished memories from the past.
Graveside Services will be Friday, May 15, 2020 at 11:00 am at Alex City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 15, 2020 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Radney Funeral Home in Alexander City, AL.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years Brenda Whittle Fricks; 3 siblings, David, Lyn and Tim; daughters, Kristi Smith (Jimmy);Paige Leann Fricks and step daughter April Beasley McPherson (James) ; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grand babies.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alton Fricks and Betty Fisher and infant daughter, Karen Fricks.
In lieu of Flowers a memorial contributions may be made to Flint Hill United Methodist Church, 2858 Flint Hill Rd, Alexander City, Alabama 35010.
All visitations and services will be held in compliance with the mandated rules from Alabama Dept of Public Health.
