Mr. Waites Jerome Pitts, 72, of Opelika, AL (formerly of Lanett, AL) went home to be with Jesus on Monday, August 3, 2020. He was born on March 11, 1948.
Jerome is survived by two sisters, Wanda Lee Cauley & Charlotte Brown, one brother, Ralph (Cathy) Pitts and a special nephew, Jeffrey Pitts.
Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Lee and Margaret McKay Pitts; his brothers, Leonard Pitts, James O. Pitts, Sr., Ted Pitts and Henry Pitts; and his sisters, Marthalene Hughey Marilyn Steele, Janice Hodges, Little Sister Pitts, Brenda Pitts, Nellie Ruth Elmore, and Beverly Ann Pitts.
Jerome was a blessing and an inspiration to many people. He loved Emmanuel Baptist Church and Valley Haven School. He loved people and never met a stranger.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM EST from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, AL with Dr. Darren White, and Dr. Raymond Sorrells officiating. Mr. Pitts will be buried in Resthaven Cemetery in Lanett. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church in Valley, AL or to Valley Haven School in Valley, AL
