The Obituary for Mrs. Carolyn Joy Bowen (Tallapoosa County)


Funeral Service for Mrs. Carolyn Joy Bowen, 53, of Daviston, Alabama, will be Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the Daviston Baptist Church. Rev. Andy Kinman, Rev. James Whetstone, and Rev. Phillip Green will officiate. Burial will follow in the Daviston Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 14, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Joy passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Grandview Medical Center. She was born on May 12, 1967 in Alexander City, Alabama to Marion Watts and Mattie Randall Watts. She loved her family dearly; especially spending time with them during the Holidays. Joy loved to share her devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with anyone that would listen. She enjoyed the simple things in life, the outdoors, spending time on the river, beach and mountain trips, volunteering for youth sports, gardening, flowers, cooking and was especially known for her pecan pies.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Chris Bowen; daughter, Briana Bowen; sons, David Hutcherson (Courtney) and Dalton Bowen; step daughter, Brooke Bowen Simpson (Josh); grandchildren, Kayleigh Simpson, Madison Simpson, McKinley Simpson and Colton Thompson; brothers, Steve Watts (Angie), Johnny Watts (Sylvia), Alan Watts, Dale Watts (Teresa) and Neal Watts (Buffie); mother in law, Cathy Bowen; brother in law, Steve Bowen; sisters in law, Michelle Shaddix (Scotty) and Stephanie Jones and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Donia May Watts and father in law, James Barry Bowen.

All visitations and services will be held in compliance with the mandated rules from Alabama Dept of Public Health.
