Ms. JoAnn Dodwell, 76, of Alexander City, Alabama passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Jackson Hospital. She was born on July 15, 1944 in Alexander City, Alabama to Bill Simmons and Willie Mae Smith Simmons. Ms. Dodwell loved her family dearly; especially her grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with her family during Christmas every year. She was a member of Elkahatchee Baptist Church. Ms. Dodwell enjoyed Gospel Music, Elvis, Willie Nelson, and reading. She also enjoyed going out to eat and any activity that involved her friends.
She is survived by her son, James Richard Dodwell (Lacey); step daughter, Lewis Rhodes (Byron); step sons, James Dodwell (Cameron) and Jerry Dodwell (Becky); grandchildren, Ann Dodwell, Henry Dodwell, Abraham Dodwell, and Jerry Dodwell, Jr.; great-grandchild, Cassidy Dodwell; niece, Tanya Adkins (Scott); nephew, Danny Simmons (Crystal); numerous great nieces and nephews, and cousins, Dean Mann, Reba Wesson, Linda Hammonds, and Joyce Harris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dodwell; step son, Daniel Dodwell, and her parents.
There will be a family memorial service held at a later date.
