The Obituary for Mr. James “Joe” Wesley Turner (Tallapoosa County)


Graveside Service for Mr. James “Joe” Wesley Turner, 87, of Hackneyville, Alabama will be Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Hackneyville Cemetery. Dr. Albert Pike will officiate.

Mr. Turner passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. He was born on December 28, 1933 in Alexander City, Alabama to James T. Turner and Pauline Peoples Turner. Mr. Turner loved his family dearly; especially his grandchildren and great grandson. He retired from the Russell Corporation after 40 years of service. He was a member of Hackneyville Baptist Church and a United States Army veteran. Mr. Turner enjoyed gardening, growing corn, making homemade sausage, cutting grass, and loved watching sports and Westerns.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Jo Hawkins and Karen Turner; son, James K. Turner (Rex); grandchildren, Stephanie Vinson (Greg) and Adam Hawkins, and great-grandson, Gaige Vinson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gloria Turner; parents; sister, Doris Jean Harris, and brothers, Robert Earl Turner and Bill Turner.

All visitations and services will be held in compliance with the mandated rules from Alabama Dept of Public Health.
