Pastor Tommy Howze of Salem was born to the late Clyde and Dorothy Jones Howze on November 30, 1943 and passed away at East Alabama Medical Center on January 14, 2021. He was 77 years old.
Tommy was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Erica McCollum; sister, Clara McCormick.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Howze; children, Darlene Whiten (Jon), Tim Howze (Kate), Lisa Thomas (Richard), and Ricky Howze (Kathy); grandchildren, Mandy Simmons (Mike), Summer Bunn (Matt), Adam Howze (Hanna), Christine Whiten, Chase McCollum, Brooke Lett (Zack), Zack Howze, Eli Thomas (Ashley), Courtney Pruitt (Austin), Vicki Cummings (Todd), Hanna Mathis (Michael); 22 great grandchildren; sister, Audrey Weedon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Tommy Retired from Uniroyal Tire company in 1994 after 21 years as an industrial electrician. He became an ordained minister in 1986 and assumed the pastoral position at The Living Way Ministries, Opelika, AL, on Feb. 1, 1991 until present. He loved being outdoors, hunting fishing and spending time with his family and fellow parishioners.
Visitation will be held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home Monday, January 18, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with sister, Benji Malloryand brother, Eric Hilyer officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Hills Cemetery.
