The Obituary for Mr. Gary D. Crossman, Retired. Sgt. 1st Class, Clay County


Mr. Gary D. Crossman, 86, passed away at his home in Ashland on February 5, 2021. Born in Pittsburg, PA, he moved to Worchester, Ma, where he graduated from high school. He served 20 years in the United States Army and retired as Sergeant First Class. During that time, he served in both the Korean and Vietnam War. While in Vietnam, he served with B-20, and 2nd Mobile Strike Force Command, Co. Along with other Commendations and Awards he received the Silver Star, The Cross of Gallantry, Bronze Star Medal, and Purple Heart. Gary also received his Bachelor’s Degree from Hawthorne College. After his retirement from the Army he was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jean Cohen Crossman, four daughters Jody Russell Infantino, of Pawling, NY, Lori Caisse (Phil) of MA, Dorothy Crossman of Edgewater, FL and Cheryl Cohen Coleman (Mike) of Ashland, two sons; Gary M. Crossman, of Boston, MA and Robert Cohen (Janice) Maitland, FL. and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two sisters Sally Ann Mercier of Arizona and Janice Biamculli (George) of Cape Cod, MA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil H. Crossman and Dorothy B. Daggett Crossman; two sisters, Marjorie Chaussee and Beverly Crossman; a brother Basil P. Crossman and a daughter, Ellen M. Oja.

A memorial service with Military honors will take place Wednesday February 24, 2021 at 1 P.M. EST. at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.
