Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Evelyn Griffin Ford, age 75 of Daviston, were held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. David Daniels and Rev. Billy East officiating. Burial followed in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Ms. Ford passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at her home. Born in Tallapoosa County, she was a resident of Clay County for most of her life. She worked as a seamstress at Russell Mills for many years and was a member of Jacksonville Church of God. She loved spending time with her “babies”, referring to her great-grandchildren. She was the best storyteller and those babies loved her stories. Mrs. Ford was always there for her family no matter what, day or night, always giving of herself and was so very selfless. She loved to laugh and would always choose joy, even through her suffering. She was the most strong and loving woman her family had ever known.
She is survived by two sons: Huey Lynn Griffin (Melanie) of Daviston and William Glenn “Ted” Griffin of Cragford, two grandchildren: Jason Griffin (Christy) of Lineville and Jodi Kilbourne (Eric) of Cragford, 10 great-grandchildren: Karley, Jaxon, Jadon, Owen, Stetson, Sara, Abigail, Jackson, Samuel, Mia; her partner, Myron Ford of Lenlock, and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Clarence Cleveland and Mary Ella Clifton Cleveland, her children’s father, Huey Griffin and one brother, William George Cleveland.
Active Pallbearers were: Glenn “Ted” Griffin, Lynn Griffin, Jason Griffin, Eric Kilbourne, Gabe Farr, Colby Ford, Chris Parker and Donald Payne.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville was in charge of arrangements.
