The Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joseph (Joe) Robert Murphy at 10:00am on Friday, November 5th at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1100 N. College St., Auburn. Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael L. Farmer, Pastor, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, 1000 E Samford Ave, Auburn. A luncheon at St. Michael’s will follow the burial. Visitation will take place at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home Thursday, Nov. 4 from 5 to 7pm.

Joseph, age 40, was lifted by his Lord and Savior into the Kingdom of Heaven on October 23, 2021. Joe passed away at his residence in Cullman, AL. Joseph was born in Opelika, AL on October 4, 1981, the 5th of 6 children born to the late Mike and Martha Murphy. He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael, and parents, John “Mike” Murphy and Martha Woods Murphy. Joe is survived by his siblings, Marie Murphy Wooldridge of Wellington, FL; Catherine Murphy-Smith (Kenny) of Hanceville, AL; Christina Murphy Crockett (Jeff) of Birmingham; and John Paul of San Antonio, TX. He was also the uncle to 3 nieces and 3 nephews, and godfather to Luke Wooldridge. Joe was a hardworking and resilient man, Army veteran, as well as a loyal sibling and friend to many. Known for his loyalty, Joe could always be counted on to give a hand when needed to friends and family. He was quick to forgive others and would befriend all whom he met. He had a devotion to his family members and would come to their aid at the “drop of a hat.” During his lifetime, Joe had to overcome many hardships, and yet, through it all, he could always be found with a smile on his face and a jovial demeanor. Joe was a man who took pride in his work and insisted on jobs being done right. He was a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ, and would never shy away from his beliefs when asked. His sensitive and forgiving heart will always be remembered by his family and friends as he now rests with our Lord in heaven.
