Mrs. Charlene Blunt Holloway, 88, of LaFayette died Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Dadeville Health Care Center, Dadeville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Vines Funeral Home Chapel, LaFayette at 1:00 p.m. (CST) with Rev. Calvin Trammell officiating. Interment will be in Essie J. Handy cemetery, LaFayette. The remains will lie in state at the chapel from 12:00 p.m. (CST) until the funeral hour. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (CST) at Vines Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Holloway was a member of Friendship Baptist Church #1, LaFayette from early childhood until later in life. She then joined Hopewell Baptist Church, Wadley in 2011. Mrs. Holloway was preceded in death by her husband, Hines Wilson Holloway. She worked in the health care industry for over 40 years; and, served eight years as a LaFayette City Council Representative for District C (1996-2004).
Mrs. Holloway is survived by four daughters: Annette Davis, Stone Mountain, GA, Susan (Willie) Hughley and Joyce (Doyle) Moss both of Opelika and Judy Holloway, Montgomery; one step daughter: Esther Williams, Lanett; two sons: Charles (Virginia) Holloway, Hamilton, GA and Tommy (Sandra) Holloway, LaFayette; two sisters: Christine Davis, West Point, GA and Olla Mae (Willie) Hill, Valley; one brother: George Blunt, Opelika; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
