ALEA PRESS RELEASE: Macon County Fatality

OPELIKA POST — A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, has claimed the life of a Union Springs man.

Clifton J. Milbry, 58, was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry over the posted speed limit when he left the roadway to the right, overcorrected and left the roadway to the left before striking a ditch and overturning several times. Because the vehicle came to final rest approximately 25 yards into the wood line, Milbry was not located until Monday, Nov. 29, after his family reported him missing to Union Springs Police Department.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation and Aviation Unit were called in to conduct a search and located Milbry and his vehicle on U.S. 29 near the 154 mile marker in Macon County, approximately eight miles south of Tuskegee.

He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
