Jalen Hurts is one step closer to leaving Alabama.

The SEC title game hero is now listed in the NCAA transfer portal, according to a source, which means that other schools can now have contact with Hurts regarding a potential transfer.

Hurts’ name popped up in the portal Wednesday at 11:50 a.m. CT.

The NCAA transfer portal is a new database that allows coaches to see all of the players around the country that are exploring transfers and are able to have contact with coaches from other schools.

Once a player informs their coach of their intent to transfer, the school’s compliance office is required to place the player’s name in the transfer portal within two business days.

As the Crimson Tide’s backup quarterback this season, Hurts was 51 of 70 for 765 yards with eight touchdown passes while also running for 167 yards and two scores, including his game-winning touchdown run against Georgia in the SEC championship game.

The former SEC Offensive Player of the Year will be a graduate transfer and will be able to play immediately at another school. Hurts has one year of eligibility remaining.
